The Jug Restaurant, established in 1932, is one of the oldest hamburger restaurants in the country and a local
icon in Middletown. The original restaurant was located on South Main Street. The current restaurant, which was built in 1939, is located at 3610 Central Avenue in a quiet, treelined residential neighborhood.

The Jug features fresh hamburgers and cheeseburgers, root beer, and soft serve ice cream. Food is served to customers by car hops, and there are ample parking spaces to accommodate hungry drive-in patrons. Seating is available at the front counter and on picnic tables outside the building.

The Jug was purchased by a new owner in November, 2002 and has undergone substantial renovation. Improvements include a new kitchen, neon signage and graphics. The award-winning Jug hamburgers remain on the menu along with root beer and milkshakes. Several new menu items have been added including a fresh grilled chicken sandwich and beer-batter fries and onion rings. Our iced tea is brewed fresh throughout the day. The Jug has expanded its ice cream selection to include cones, sundaes and our new Whip-In.

All Jug food is cooked to order, and nothing is prepared in advance; thus, you might have to wait a little longer for your food during busy periods. The food is definitely worth the wait.
